Overview
Litigation Lending is funding a class action filed by JGA Saddler against the State of Queensland, on behalf of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who allege racial discrimination in the delivery of healthcare services across Far North and Northwest Queensland.
The class action alleges that in failing to provide adequate and/or appropriate medical or health services or providing inadequate and/or inappropriate health services, the State of Queensland has racially discriminated against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the regions serviced by the North West Hospital and Health Service and the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service.
Group members are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who, between December 1996 and September 2024, were either subject to discriminatory conduct by a healthcare provider because, or by reason, of their race, or who experienced harm, hurt, loss, damage, or injury as a result of a family member or relation being subject to discriminatory conduct. The relevant areas and healthcare providers are those serviced by the North West Hospital and Health Service and the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service.
